Snapchat Tweaks Redesign So You Hate it Less
Heads upwards, Snapchat users: The Change.org petitions worked…kind of.
Snapchat isn't abandoning its widely panned redesign altogether, but it has released some changes that should brand you hate it less. The update, currently rolling out to most users on iOS, puts your Snaps and Chats in chronological gild again, and moves Stories from your friends back to the right side of the app.
When you open the app and swipe right to admission the Discover department, you'll see posts from friends first. Under that will be a separate Subscriptions feed, where you lot'll notice Stories from creators, publishers, and shows you follow.
Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel showtime tipped this update during the visitor's Q1 earnings call on May 1.
"We are now focused on optimizing the redesign based on our ongoing experimentation and learning," he said. "When nosotros separated friends' Stories from creator Stories, we also moved them to the left side of the camera and merged them into the Chat feed. We learned that combining watching Stories and communicating with friends into the same place fabricated information technology harder to optimize for both competing behaviors."
Following the redesign's Us debut in early on February, users launched more than than 30 Alter.org protest petitions in a unmarried mean solar day. They complained that the app was "too over complicated," that it was harder to find their friends, and that some contacts weren't even showing up.
"We hear y'all, and appreciate that you took the time to let us know how y'all feel," the company wrote in response to one petition. "We completely understand the new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many."
The changes rolling out should make it a piffling more comfortable.
